Road Trip pt.2

 Day two in Texas was a busy one. there were boots to buy ( for me), horses to feed, and  be shoed, cows that needed to be fed, ( on three different pieces of property mind you, so this chore took some time), and just plain ol fun to be had! All before the Carni that evening. Our First stop was at Allen's boots in down town Austin, where I picked up these gems! This place was incredible. I think my heart nearly stopped when I stepped foot in the door. Im not sure they even sell a plain leather boot. There was just isles, and isles, of the most amazing embroidered boots. No doubt I have a new addiction.

Meet Cooper, "Coop" as he is more well known is quite a character. He is the youngest of 3 boys, and keeps Mom on her toes! It's no wonder she wants to persue T.V. and Print work for Cooper. He is a natural entertainer. To loosen Coop up for his big photoshoot, Mom brought along some Michael Jackson in the boom box, or M.J. as Coop would say. Along with his plastic microphone, hat and glove, coop preformed his moves and got in the grove to work my camera! He was then ready for me..........



Coop brought along his older brothers for moral support, so how could I resist getting a few family shots for Mom? until of course a football game broke out! Im really quite surprised I was able to get what I did it all turned to fun and games. Even then, I just kept shooting! With boys ya just kinda have to go with the flow....

This years Christmas Card

My kids are my toughest subjects EVER for me to photograph. Maybe because they feel free not to listen to my instructions on how to pose or where to look, etc. because they don"t see me as a photographer, but just as their Mom, or maybe it's just because they are 7, and 8, and would rather be doing anything BUT sitting still! At any rate, after an exhausting and somewhat frustrating (only on my part, they laughted at me the whole time) session, I managed to get one of the nicest images of the two of them together I've captured in a long, long time......

The sunset was  gorgeous the other night, so with nothing pressing that evening we headed to a near by open field to capture some images. I'm so glad we did. I Love this one. It  takes me back to my childhood. A gang of us neighborhood kids had an entire pasture we'd head to after school to play. Oak trees at every glance,  and cold creeks awaited our discovery.  We'd be gone for hours. How I wish my kids had the same  freedom to run wild as I did. Perhaps it's the reason this image speaks to me so.

Fathers Day was filled with Bar-B-Qing, Card playing, family and fun, and what else?.....a Chicken Fight!! Score: Girls 1- Boys 0. Hoping yours was just as memorable.

 

Tell me again About Grandma

My princess loves combing my closet in search of special tucked away boxes I have stuffed with my Grandmothers treasures.( one of them being gloves). Grandma always looked like she had just stepped out of a fashion magazine. She wore her hair in the perfect Bob, her nails were always impeccably manicured and red. Her clothes were amazing, and from the finest stores. I can just see the purses lined up on the top shelf of her closet with the matching shoes below. She wrapped  everything in tissue paper. I remember the sound of the crinkling paper as she unwrapped each pair in search of  just the right shoe for the outfit. As she got older her wardrobe became more casual and there was not the occasion to get so fancy. One thing her and I loved to do is spend hours in her bedroom  unwrapping the tissue  from shoes, purses and  taking out outfits for their garment bags and listening to the stories of where  she purchased them ( the entire shopping trip including who was with her), what event she wore them  to, and the quality of the textile.  She so loved fashion. These are memories I cherish. I guess little girls never really grow up!
