It's no secret that I Love good music! So I decided to dedicate Mondays to MUSIC! I cant think of a better way to start the week.... so here goes, let me introduce you to Skyuler Fisk. She is pretty new to the music scene. I saw her live at the Troubador last yr. and instantly became a fan. Check her out!
Pretty cool huh? If you want more, check Schuyler Fisk at her mySpace.
With all the hoopla about branding I took a look at mine and was pretty happy with the vibe it gave off. As I was looking at it though, I thought to myself, "Why is the primary color pink"? I hate pink....lol So it gave off the vintagey soft look, but still needed a little tweek here and there. I did what I have read you should do to develop a brand that refletcs yourself, which is take a long hard look at yourself and ask questions about what your drawn to, what eras speak to you the most, when you find yourself connetcing with ads, songs, etc. what is it that speaks to you etc.... I thought LONG and HARD about this for quite some time and one commercial kept coming to mind. I ADORE everything about it, the light, the era, the music, the styling, the simplicity, the whole vibe!! Check this out!
I totally reevaluated everything and made some changes... Of course I was dying to get out and do a shoot that exudes my new look. I called up my girl Amanda and of course she was more than willing. I ran upstairs to my closet, pulled out a few items, through them in a shopping bag and out the door I went! Now thats when you know you are on the right track.....having "the look" right in your own closet!!! if thats not a brand that says "ME" I don't know what does. She did an Awesome job as usual, take a look.
Im SuPER ThrillED with the new look and clear direction of my Brand! It feels like an old pair of comfy jeans. It feels like me, like Im not pretending......all the soul searching was well worth it I'd say!
Sometimes I find my head jammed packed with images I've seen in catalogs, internet sites magazines or movies that I have watched. I neatly tuck them away in a special place in my pretty little head just waiting for the appropriate time to recreate the look. This happens ever time I receive an Anthropology Catalog. This shoot was "That Time". So what do ya think? Could you see this in Anthro?
It really does make a huge difference in your Bridal images. Have fun, don't be afraid to get dirty, dance, kick your heels up! Its not like you're going to wear that dress ever again, so go ahead, because this is what it take to create AMAZING images you will Adore for ever! Take a look....
Meet Cooper, "Coop" as he is more well known is quite a character. He is the youngest of 3 boys, and keeps Mom on her toes! It's no wonder she wants to persue T.V. and Print work for Cooper. He is a natural entertainer. To loosen Coop up for his big photoshoot, Mom brought along some Michael Jackson in the boom box, or M.J. as Coop would say. Along with his plastic microphone, hat and glove, coop preformed his moves and got in the grove to work my camera! He was then ready for me.......... Coop brought along his older brothers for moral support, so how could I resist getting a few family shots for Mom? until of course a football game broke out! Im really quite surprised I was able to get what I did it all turned to fun and games. Even then, I just kept shooting! With boys ya just kinda have to go with the flow....
I've known this young lady for a while now. I did her Senior pictures last yr. and she has also modeled for me when I was commissioned to do a clothing shoot. So it was no surprise to me when she told me wanted to take modeling a bit more serious. So with the help of Cathi Singh we fashioned up Amanda and headed out to the nearest open field and had ourselves a little fun! I Adore this shoot! Its gotta be one of my ALL time favs to date! Take a look....
We have many more fun shoots in the works!
I recently gathered with 50 or so other photographers for a hands on workshop in San Juan Capastrano. It was exciting to meet new photographers and get reaquanted with those I've worked with before. Some of the best in the industry were our special guest speakers. We broke up into small groups and hit the streets, trying to master our particular topic. Although we were supose to rotate to 3 different groups, I stayed with Kristin for 2 sesssions. ( Rebel that I am)!. lol I just felt a real connection for her feel and approach to her images. Here are a few of my favorites.....
This is Kristin, a new mentor for sure! Your rock sister!
On Sat. I updated to my facebook that I was going to hang out at someone elses pool for the day. We headed to a long time family friends house that we have know for yrs. Matt recently built this new house, and I'd never seen it before. I knew it would be spectacular, but I never imagined this...... Matts pool is adorned with these gorgeous glass, hand blown flowers that seem to burst up from clay pots in the landscape. One is a beautiful fountain that can be seen from the dining room window, and two large flowers placed at the edge of the pool have delicate leaves that drape over the side of large rocks and hang inches above the water. It feels like a retreat, you feel like you're in Arizona,or New Mexico.. To our surprise Roger Dale, the artist who created all the hand blown glass art was hanging out at Matt's house for the day. Night time is when it all came alive....... When the sun goes down, the flowers take on a magical glow, the pool water changes colors, and the firepits at the end of the infinity wall light. A good time was had by all! A perfect Summer evening. Next post I'll show you the entry chandelier Roger made. You won't believe it. Last evening, my girl comes running in the house yelling "were gonna make a lemonaid stand"! She grabs some crayons, markers and somee cups and out the door she flies.
I love the fact that if you'd like ice in your glass, its going to cost you 25cents more. Up-selling, the girl "gets it" By the time I went out to check on them they had made $7.50 I asked them how they made so much so fast and they said, "We knocked on doors and asked if they wanted to buy a glass of lemonaid from us". Im thinking, "gesh, what a concept". Looks like they knew they had a hit on their hands, they increased their pirce rather quickly! lol like I said, "I could learn a lot from these girls".
